Livanti, who is currently 1 years old, featured on the Yorkshire Vet on Tuesday 20th! When he only 1 day old he had to have a blood plasma transfusion in front of Julian’s new practice. 2022 Cria Update
Anyone who follows us on social media or has been to the farm in the recent months will know we have had 5 cria this summer; Harold Percival (HP), Lynette, Millie, Mary & Merlin. They have all been growing very well in the field they share with their mums in the village and are gaining confidence all the time and becoming very cheeky!
Hay Making & Farm Maintenance
Summer is a busy time of year on the farm especially as we make our own hay! The weather was very helpful this summer and we got a good crop ready to feed all the hungry alpacas this winter! As the weather cools and walks start to quiet we also have time for farm maintenance and this month the fencing between the farm and forest needed fixing to stop the girls getting in with our boys!
British Alpaca Society Open Weekend
October Half Term
At the start of September we opened our gates for a full weekend along with other alpaca farms across the country! This was our second time doing this and it was a great success with more visitors than in 2021 and everyone reported that they enjoyed meeting the alpacas either for the first time or visiting again. We hope to partake in this event again in 2023!
Although it’s getting colderand darker nights that doesn’t mean you can’t still walk an alpaca as we are open all year. And don’t forget the alpacas get super fluffy at this time of year! If you didn’t make it with the kids this summer, October half term is a great time to walk our fluffy boys and there will even be a pumpkin display to take autumnal pictures in front of.
