Walking with alpacas in the beautiful Hambleton Hills is a wonderful experience; here are a few more details to help you to decide if it’s for you or those you might want to treat to the experience.
How long does a walk take?
Our normal walk is just over an hour but you should allow up to 2 hours for your experience to meet other alpacas and take pictures.
What happens on our experience?
When you arrive you’ll meet the alpacas that you are going to walk with and be given a briefing. There are ample opportunities for photos along the way and you will see some of the rest of the herd. We’ll tell you about alpacas as we walk; where they are from, what they eat, about their fleece and how they are farmed. The views on a clear day are stunning and you can see the White Horse at Kilburn and the Vale of York.
The farm is on a gentle slope and we walk over grassy tracks and paths. The pace is quite slow, as alpacas like to look round and take in their surroundings. Children 7 to 17 years old can take part but mush be with an adult to lean an alpaca. The walks are not suitable for people with walking difficulties or young children but do give me a call and we can discuss a farm visit.
Clothing and Equipment:
Waterproof footwear with closed toes is recommended, gloves and scarves and hats on cold days are must. You are walking in the countryside were there terrain can be uneven and the grass wet, some areas can be muddy in wet weather.
We walk if it is drizzling or light rain but not if its pouring with rain; on some days we can postpone your walk for a short while, or we can rearrange your walk for another date. Please call for advice before you leave if the weather is bad.
How many people and alpacas will there be on my walk?
Alpacas are herd animals and so we walk with a minimum of 2 alpacas and a maximum of 12, so you can choose to share an alpacas between two people in your party or lead one on your own. You might be on a walk with other guests;
We can cater for any special occasion that you might have in mind; hen parties, birthdays, anniversaries. We can provide alpaca gifts or flowers, cakes or champagne – please call for prices and to discuss your requirements.
We are only able to provide walks that have been pre-booked by e mailing email@example.com or calling on 07716 917315, 01347 868879. You can also book online. Click here.
